Guidance for the clinically vulnerable and clinically extremely vulnerable
On 17 March, the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) wrote to all clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) residents to let them know they were no longer advised to shield with effect from 1 April 2021. Although CEV residents are no longer being advised to shield it is recommended that they take extra precautions to protect themselves from coronavirus as it is still actively circulating in our communities. The council will continue to provide assistance through the Together We Can programme should it be needed.

Need support? Together We Can.
Together We Can is an initiative we lead, working in close partnership with many other public, private and voluntary sector organisations. We're joined by community groups and residents who have offered to help and support the vulnerable people in our Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole communities to get through the coronavirus crisis.
Our Together We Can community response service is still available to provide help with food or household items to anyone who needs them, including those who are unwell or self-isolating. Contact the team by phone on 0300 123 7052 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm), or online. Our helpline can also provide advice and financial support for help getting to your vaccination clinic.
Please be aware that the Together We Can Helpline and BCP Crisis Payments helpline are closed on Bank Holidays.
During the COVID-19 outbreak we have worked closely with Health colleagues and community organisations to support local people. We have followed, and continue to follow, government guidance , including guidance from Public Health.
What are the arrangements if someone needs an assessment of their care and support needs?
We may offer telephone and video calls as an alternative to visiting, where possible, to reduce any unnecessary contact. However, we are making home visits where it is necessary following a risk assessment, to protect you, anyone else living in your household and our staff. All visiting staff will be wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and will maintain a 2-metre distance as much as possible.
Is there information on shopping support if people are self-isolating?
If support is needed with shopping during this time, check for current information on services offering food and meal delivery services in your local area.
What is happening to day services?
Visit this BCP Council web page for the current situation:
What is happening around the provision of home care and within care home settings?
As part of assessing risk, we are undertaking calls with our service users to ascertain whether they present with any symptoms of COVID-19 before we visit.
See guidance on care home visiting.
For advice on the use of PPE, you may find it useful to refer to Personal protective equipment (PPE) - resource for care workers delivering homecare (domiciliary care) in England.
What are the hospital discharge arrangements for adults with care and support needs?
See information about 'Home first'.
What arrangements are in place for people needing a financial assessment of their care needs?
BCP Council will continue to undertake financial assessments; however, these may be undertaken via telephone or video call.
What is happening regarding disabled adaptations?
We may still offer telephone and video calls as an alternative to visiting, where possible, to reduce any unnecessary contact. However, we are making home visits where it is necessary following a risk assessment, to protect you, anyone else living in your household and our staff.

Citizens Advice offer free and friendly guidance as part of
Let's Talk Money (opens in a new window).
Dorset Mind have included a guide on their website featuring advice for those worried about their finances, including links to other organisations that can help.
Government advice was updated on 16 August and now states:
- There are no longer limits on the number of people who can attend weddings, civil partnerships, funerals and other life events (including receptions and celebrations). There is no requirement for table service at life events, or restrictions on singing or dancing. You should follow guidance for weddings and funerals to reduce risk and protect yourself and others.
- There are no longer restrictions on group sizes for attending communal worship. COVID-19 has not gone away, so it's important to remember the actions you can take to keep yourself and others safe. Everybody needs to continue to act carefully and remain cautious.
