Transport and getting around

Community transport schemes across Dorset can help people who have problems getting out and about. 

Some clubs, societies and groups may provide transport. Transport can be provided by a bus or minibus or, in many cases, volunteers' own cars, usually at low cost.

Taxi and bus providers (opens in a new window) can assist you if you have a disability or use a wheelchair.

Wessex DriveAbility (opens in a new window) offer an advice and assessment service to drivers who may have lost confidence due to age or disability. 

Blue Badges are available if you have access to a car, but have severe walking difficulties. This can enable you to park closer to your destination.

Transport concessions

Older people and those with a disability may qualify for a free bus pass. Contact:

Disabled persons railcard (opens in a new window) and  discounts on coach travel (opens in a new window) may be available if you have a disability.
