What Adult Social Care does

Helping adults to live safely and independently in the community

Adult Social Care:

  • provides a range of support for people with an illness or disability and their carers;

  • helps people to live as independently as they can in their own home, where possible;

  • provides information and advice about support services available from a wide range of sources;

  • assesses people's needs to see if they are eligible to receive services from Adult social care and, if so, asks about their finances to see how much, if anything, they can afford to pay towards the care.

You may need support for a short time to help you regain skills and confidence, or for a longer period if you need ongoing support.

You can check to see if you are eligible for our support, and if not, we give as much information and advice as we can so you can arrange the support you need yourself.

Everyone has the right to ask us for help and we will endeavour to assist, either by meeting your needs ourselves or by directing you to someone else who can.
